The
dates of the 2011 performances are:
July 21-22 at 7:30 p.m.
July 28-29 at 7:30 p.m.
July 30 at 2 p.m.
All
the performances are at the Estebo Performing Arts Center
in the
Redwood Valley High School, Redwood Falls.
Auditions
are going to be held in mid-May, with times and dates announced
at a later date.
“The
Sound of Music” is a 1959 production. It is the last masterpiece
of
Rogers and Hammerstein.
The story takes place in Austria in the late 1930s. Postulant
Maria, is not considered nun material by her superiors. She
is given a temporary assignment caring for the seven children
(two boys and five girls) of Captain Von Trapp. The familiar
story follows the love story between Captain Von Trap, his
baroness, Postulant Maria and the award winning singers: the
Von Trapp children.
Familiar
songs include, “Do-Re-Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “My
Favorite Things,”
“Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
